ScreenCrowd is a personal project, built and run by one person, currently in beta. This page says plainly what gets stored and what happens to it. No hidden clauses.
What ScreenCrowd stores
An account on ScreenCrowd keeps only what the app needs to run for you.
- Your email address, used to log you in and reach you about your account.
- A hash of your password. Your actual password is never stored and never seen.
- Your watch history, meaning which shows and episodes you have marked watched.
- Ratings and comments, once that feature ships. It has not shipped yet, so there is nothing there today.
- Your referral code and how many people have joined using it.
Where the show data comes from
Show titles, episode lists, air dates, and artwork come from TVmaze, a free public TV database. ScreenCrowd is not affiliated with TVmaze. That data is shown as-is, with TVmaze credited as the source.
Cookies
ScreenCrowd sets one cookie, and it only holds your session so you stay logged in. There is no ad cookie and no third-party tracking script following you around the web.
No ads, no selling data
There are no ads on ScreenCrowd and no plans to add any. Your data is never sold to anyone. Your watch history exists to run the app for you, and for nothing else.
Exporting or deleting your data
During beta there is no self-serve export or delete button yet. Email hello@getscreencrowd.com and ask for either one, and it gets handled by hand, including GDPR-style requests. A proper in-app version of this comes later.
Beta caveats
This is a beta, run by one person. Bugs happen, the data schema changes, and a feature can occasionally break or reset while it gets rebuilt. There is no formal uptime guarantee. If a change is ever going to affect your data in a real way, you hear about it directly rather than finding out the hard way.
Changes to this policy
If anything above changes in a way that matters, this page gets updated and the date at the top moves with it. Check back here if you are curious, since there is no separate mailing list for policy updates during beta.
